In today’s colloquium class at Disney II Magnet School, the pace of designing and executing nine plant cell-inspired mosaics continued to be exhilarating. With two groups of students from eighth through eleventh grades in one-hundred minute blocks since the middle of February, we’ve imagined, sketched and plotted the design, theorized over the myriad of color combinations, cut hundreds of circles from sheets of stained glass, ceramic and glass tile, then attached those pieces to Wedi board cut into the shapes they'd originally dreamed.

Today was the ninth class out of a total of ten, and I was thrilled to see that the majority of cells were ready to be grouted. I think this may have been everyone’s favorite part, as everything finally comes together when the obscurity of the charcoal Polyblend sanded grout is wiped away!
